From Mit:
You have heard me talk about the Rigging for Rescue rope rescue class I attended 2 years ago. It was an amazing experience that I would LOVE to have other rope rescue members participate in this fall. The October 17-20 class on MDI, takes a real time and financial commitment but is totally worth it! The instructors and very knowledgeable, amazing teachers and you will be surrounded by many other Maine SAR rope rescue people providing a wonderful cross-training opportunity. Unfortunately this is not a class for beginners but if you have some rope rescue or climbing experience, you are eligible. You should be familiar and comfortable on a rope (belay, rappelling, and simple mechanical advantage systems).
The cost of the class was $600 but MASAR has kicked in some $ to bring the cost down to $475. FSAR will likely kick in some $ to further offset the cost of tuition for those who request it, although the board has not yet met to finalize the amount, possibly another $150.
The class has begun to fill and if you are interested, I recommend putting a deposit down soon to hold your spot.
Please contact me soon if you have further questions.
