Many of the park's trails were still closed due to snow and the hiking traffic was light. Jim writes, "Although it was raining on Sat. we ventured out. Only the Helon Taylor and Hunt trails were open. We hiked into Sandy Stream Pond from Roaring Brook Campground and saw a deer and moose. " Bill, a former BSP ranger led Jim on a tour of the campgrounds where they spoke with a number of different rangers, many of whom were old work mates of Bill.
"We hiked up the Hunt trail just above tree line and saw very few hikers on the trails.
There were no reported incidents, So it was a safe weekend in the park.
For training, they tested Ranger Mike's new 2 man bivy shelter!
