FSAR monthly meeting is 1-13-10
Franklin Search & Rescue
Monthly meeting/training
6:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010
Kingfield Fire Station
After a brief business meeting, our training activity will center on individual readiness for a winter rescue call. Please bring your ready-pack and any equipment you might find necessary for a call on cranberry peak in winter. We will also go outside and participate in snow melting/water production, personal emergency bivy (improvised or purchased) and getting a winter fire started.
Other business, the FSAR pack covers are being constructed now and will be in soon. We will likely be receiving them in 2 batches. I am now accepting the $20 cost for the covers. The first people to pay will get their covers first! If you can’t be at Wednesday’s meeting you can mail me a check at 27 Ivy Rd. Strong, 04983.
MASAR is hosting a 2 day class in southern Maine titled: Lost Person Behavior on Feb. 6-7; see the attached PDF with more information. FSAR has 2 spots reserved, if you are interested in attending, please contact Steve Yates.
Point of interest: NOAA is seeking input prior to removing the high elevations portion of their daily broadcast, called the "Recreational Forecast". This broadcast is particularly useful to hikers, hunters, snowmobilers, skiers, rescue personal, and others who play and work in the outdoors. IF you listen to this broadcast or have an opinion about its possible removal, please share your thoughts with Stacie.Hanes@noaa.gov
